setting up network

Hey guys,

I just bought a new router; Netgear Nighthawk r7000. Reason is because the wireless network was really bad on the modem/router. Now I installed it, but when I was gaming I had 30% packet loss on average(using ethernet), sometimes even 80%, which is really unplayable. It is probably something to do with the router. Our internet should be 400 mbps, so thats not the issue. (Speedtest without QoS is indeed 400 mbps).

Does anyone know what might cause this or does anyone have any tips for settings on this router.

Thanks in regards

Solution
The chips in consumer router's can't handle QoS > 100Mbs.
They can't handle many of the services they offer at high speeds.

I'd suggest trying to restore is back to defaults with updates if you aren't sure what all it's doing.
You only want basic NAT and wired is best.

packet loss can happen with bufferbloat. if your QoS is the bottleneck and it's also where you are seeing the drops then that's the issue.
You can't get info on packetloss if it's not on your equipment.
