Question setting up new Dell XPS laptop

Hi Everyone,

I have a new Dell XPS laptop with windows 10 and was wondering what you would do to set up your new laptop?

I was just thinking of downloading windows updates, installing an antivirus software and ccleaner to remove bloatware.

What free antivirus would you suggest? Firewall? Are you a fan of ccleaner?

Anything else you can think of that would be useful?

I use IOBit uninstaller but I think CCleaner is considered pretty good.

I always change the windows power plan from 'balanced' (the default) to 'high performance'.

My personal suggestion is to do a clean install of 10 to clear out any bloatware then run this:

https://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=4374j

That application will download all drivers for Dell systems and works pretty well.

Then of course an antivirus of your choice.

Thinking of the bloatware problem - both dell's and windows' ... I just came across this today ... it might be worth a try (some reviewer thinks highly of it):

thanks guys. What's your preferred antivirus? Bitdefender?

I personally use the built in with portable versions of SAS and MBAM but BitDefender seems to be rated very highly.
