Hey Guys, I'm in the process of setting up Internet in my new house. My goal is to set up the network in such a way so that I can have an Ethernet Access point in every room, as well as having general home wifi. A Friend told me of a product called PowerLine by TP Link, I was wondering if this could help me achieve my goal. However, I watched the Powerline video and it looks like the suggested path is Modem -> Router -> Powerline Adapter (in wall) ->Then I can pull ethernet from one outlet somewhere else? Can I put a Powerline Receiver adapter in each room outlet to pull ethernet from the one transmitter adapter from the modem? Can I go straight from the modem into a powerline adapter, that way I can put the Router in a more central location, pulling from a powerline adapter. My first idea was to go Modem-> Router in attic -> Ethernet outlet in each room, but that is A LOT of work and cable management. Can anyone weigh in on this please?

Solution
If you want an ethernet jack in every room, then I recommend you pay a professional installer to put in-wall ethernet cabling in your house.
Powerline is OK. But using it as a "first choice" is not the best implementation. It is a fallback position. Aim higher.

Thanks, After talking with friends I have come to accept this. Just going to have to roll up my sleeves, break a sweat, and wire the house lol I won't regret it down the road.

If you are pulling cable. Think about any outdoor locations you might want cameras. Think about an outdoor access point to provide WIFI to your patio or backyard.
Think about where you will bring all these cables. Closet? Basement? Remember you need power in that location. Get a quality UPS for your network gear.
Today, either stick with cat5e or go to cat6a. Don't mess with other flavors. Get 100% copper, 22-24 gauge TIA certified cable.
Get a set of fiber fish sticks. Get at least a continuity tester.
Practice crimping RJ45s on scrap wire. But I recommend buying commercial patch cords. Monoprice has good quality patches.
