I bought a new asus rt-ac68p router w/ asus wrt for my house. I have fios using the moca actiontec router/modem. I know that I am going to have to get the actiontec to pass through to the Asus in order for me to use it but I am wondering if anyone knows if i need to do any preconfiguring on the asus router before I get started? and if so what, and all that.

Solution
Pretty much the only option you will have is to set your asus as the DMZ router in the actiontec. You will still need to use the actiontec as the main router.

You may want to call verizon and see if they will activate the ethernet port on the ONT and then you can use the asus directly. The answer to this question depends on what if any tv services you have, the actiontec is used to provide internet to the settop boxes via moca.

I know that I can't remove the actiontec If the ONT was closer I would be able to hook it up directly and that would be that. I have tv and internet. If i had phone they said I wouldn't be able to do it in pass through. I am looking at a new house so it really depend how everything works out there. If I can get a Fiber drop from the ONT to wherever I put the router ( idea is to wire as much as I can)
