Setting up SSH on Freenas box

I am running
( FreeNAS-8.3.1-RELEASE-p2-x64 (r12686+b770da6_dirty) and am trying to set up SSH to remotely contact this NAS over the internet.
In the setup window for SSH it is asking for RSA PRIVATE key in PEM format. In the howto I have just read it calls for DSA PRIVATE key in PEM format.
I am using PuttyGen to create the key, which I believe can create both, does anybody know who has set SSH up on Freenas which is correct?
Also does anyone know of any issues using Putty for SSH on Freenas?

Both RSA and DSA are strong encryption algorithms. For SSH however, I'd opt for RSA.

And Putty is fine.
