Setting Up the Windows Phone 8.1 Remote Desktop App

Has anybody cracked the code for configuring the Windows Phone 8.1 remote desktop app?

I'm quite curious as to how well it works; if it works well enough, I may strongly consider upgrading my phone to the Lumia 1520 for its massive screen.

I've been at it for about an hour now, but the only resource I've been able to find is Microsoft's website and (surprise, surprise) it's not very helpful.

So I think I'm unable to set up remote desktop app because I'm using Windows Embedded 8. Is anybody else using Embedded 8 able to use the app?

Update: I tried setting up remote desktop on my laptop, which is running Windows 8.1 Pro and supports the app, but still to no avail.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
