Hi, I want to know if there is a way I can setup Windows Server 2008 on a Rogers modem that is set to DHCP? or even if I can connect a router and then assign static ip's from it?:??:

I know you're supposed to use static ip, but I live with a few other people that all have computers and I don't want to mess around with it because 2 of them work from home. I am doing this to get more hands on learning. Any help and/or advice would be most appreciated, thanks in advanced. 😉

Solution
Server 2008 is an operating system, just like any other. Providing the hardware meets the minimum system requirements, it can be installed.

DHCP is a feature of Server 2008, so it can be enabled or disabled as required.

You can't remotely assign static IP addresses, but you can place a reservation on a DHCP address. Server 2008 will let you do this, but other devices may not.

Yes and if I remember correctly I believe you can create multiple reserved IP's, thus I can add multiple clients to the server. Thanks BRM!
