Settings not staying set

I'm having some problems with Windows Pro 8.1. A lot of my settings keep resetting themselves. An example is, I can change the output in Windows Explorer from list to folders and in a short time it will set back to lists. Also, the apps Store and other tiles programs get where when you click on one it will open and close in a split second and continue to do that each time you click it. I can fix these problems with a troubleshooter, but they come right back. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hello GBC,

First run a sfc to eliminate any problems with windows files.

go to search, type cmd >> right click run as admin >> type in sfc /scannow

Post back when you get the results.

I ran the sfc and it came back with several errors. What do I do next and do you need more information?

Did it say that there was errors that could not be repaired? Did it say all problems where repaired?

Restart the computer and run SFC again. Does it still show errors that can not be repaired?

If you have errors that cannot be fixed. run from elevated command prompt

DISM /Online /Cleanup-image /RestoreHealth

Restart then run SFC again, and check for errors.

it just says "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them".

What is an elevated command prompt and how do you run from it?
