Setup.exe is not doing anything

So I recently purchased Anno 1602 AD for my sister as a Christmas present because she used to love that game years ago. So, I'm trying to install it on Windows 7 64 bit and it gets to setup.exe and then nothing happens. I've run in in compatibility and I've tried running as an administrator. I tried it on another Windows 7 machine and the install goes through flawlessly. Does anyone know any reason why setup.exe wouldn't be working? I have remote access to my computer right now so I can get any information you would need. Thanks!

is the other windows7 machine 32 or 64bit?this game was originally for windows 98 2000 and xp,so it might not run on a 64bit os.

16 bit game. Will not run on a 64bit system.

OK then.
What exactly happens when you try to install? Any error messages?

Nothing happens. I wait a few minutes and no setup menu comes up. The process setup.exe is running in task manager and I can close it from there.

Other win 7 machine was 64 bit and I just installed it on a win 8 64 bit machine.

I did it finally! I had to install the game in safemode and it works perfectly now!
