My current system:

Intel i5 2500k 3.3Ghz
16 GB Corsair XMS3 DDR3 1600Mhz
Asus Maximus IV Gene-Z Gen 3 Z68
XFX Radeon R7970 3GB Black Edition
Corsair 850W HX Modular PSU

Plating at 6048x1080. Eyefinity setup.

So, what do I need to upgrade? I believe I will have to change my motherboard, but I really hope I can keep my current CPU. I will upgrade before Christmas, cuz I need few months to save up.

Hi

Well as far as I can see your motherboard and cpu do support crossfire X. There is no need of changing them. They are also valuable parts and very reliable. Moreover your RAM is top class as well as your PSU. Have you taken into consideration of buying a single gpu? Say the GTX680?

Thanks

yes why not.you have -
a very good cpu that will not cause any bottlenecks.
a crossfire capable motherboard.
850w is more than enough for 7970 CF and overclocks.

so,go ahead,grab another 7970 and enjoy!

Have you guys actually looked at my mobo? I know it supports CF, but do you know how much spece there is between cards? Well, there is no space. :D

And I`m asking about my CPU, because I have seen that on other threads people are saying it may be a bottleneck and cause performance issues.

Question about mobos - If I buy 1155 socket mobo. Let`s say this one http://www.scan.co.uk/products/asrock-fatal1ty-z68-professional-gen3-intel-z68-s-1155-ddr3-sata-iii-6gb-s-sata-raid-pcie-30-(x16)-d Can I put any 1155 CPU on it? Ivy Bridge or Sandy bridge does it matter?

as i said,2500k is a great cpu for gaming and will not cause any bottlenecks.
xfx BB 7970 is not a 3 slotter so don't worry about space ;)
EDIT: overclock your cpu for better performance.

You really don`t believe me, do you? :D Look at the picture, You see how much space there is between card and slot? Few mm. I don`t want one of my cards to overheat every time I switch on my system.
