Setup VPN Server To Access PC Behind Private IP Address (Verizon JetPack)?

I'muse a Verizon JetPack at one of my work locations for my PC, based on my research it looks like Verizon only issues private IP addresses through the JetPack so I'm not able to view this IP from outside the network.

I want to be able to access this PC and remote desktop to it from outside of the Verizon JetPack network, and someone mentioned to me that I could do this by setting up a VPN server.

My question is how exactly would I set this up? I found tutorials online that shows me how to turn my "home" Windows 7 PC to allow incoming VPN connections, but how exactly would this give me access to the "work" PC I want to connect to?

VPN is going to be a lot of hassle for this. There are many alternatives that are easier and more reliable (less likely to be blocked by firewalls).

If you use Chrome, they just released a new built-in remote desktop app: https://www.google.com/search?q=google+chrome+remote&oq=google+chrome+remote

Alternatively I'd suggest TeamViewer

I just put a test VPN together for testing purpose, trying to find a decent product that I can trust. Hamichi is it's name and not sure if this helps but there ya go.
