Hey guys,

I recently wanted to reinstall my pc because it was using a lot of cpu so I figured it might be a software problem. Well I bought a windows 7 copy (which apparently was hard to find). I created a bootable USB because I dont have access to a dvd drive (all the shops here in Malta are closed till tuesday because of public holiday). Anyway it loads up the windows files correctly but then when I have to select on which partition I want to install it on, it says: Setup was unable to create a new system partition. I have a HDD and an SSD and I tried installing it on both. I also unplugged my HDD and tried installing it on my SSD then. I also tried to change the SAT boot setup to IDE. I also tried unplugging my USB when the error occurs and then inserting it again. I also tried in CMD when in the setup to copy the files from my USB to my SSD partition and then making it a bootable and then restarting it without the USB inserted. but this resulted in errors showing up while starting up. Does anyone know what I could try else?

Kind regards,

Aernout

Windows Setup must have access to an empty partition on your hard drive in order to install Windows.

Therefore, you must either format the existing Windows partition to make it empty, or delete the existing Windows partition, then create a new one which will of course be empty.

You can do all that from within Windows Setup by following the prompts and pressing the appropriate keys for the desired task as indicated on the screen.
