Hello TH community, I am considering purchasing the card linked below, but I am the farthest thing from tech savvy, so I would like confirmations on the following things just to make sure that everything will go accordingly should I decide to purchase the card.

The Card: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JJJW4Z2/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

1. Will that card fit in this case? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00E0P7K6S/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

2. Does the following power supply have all of the necessary cables to power the card? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00K85X23O/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

3. Would this card be considered "future proof? What's the estimate on how long it will be before I have to replace it?

The card should fit in the case, I have a mid-tower with similar dimensions and there's a few mm of play between the card and the drive brackets. I also have the XFX r9 290 DD which is a longer card, so you should be fine.

Nothing is future proof, but this is a great card and should be enough power to run your games for a few years.

Between the card and PSU, you should have what you need to power the card.

The case seems to have enough room for the card, the power supply is fine and actually a really decent deal. I would strongly urge you to consider the gtx 970 instead of the r9 290. Significantly lower power consumption and it beats the 290 in every benchmark imaginable for the same price. Future proof is a matter of opinion. Depending on the type of games you play and your expectations for how those games should run, will determine that. From your questions I would assume your fairly lax about those standards and don't require "cutting edge" performance. If that is the case then 3 years gaming at 1080p NO PROBLEM. It will most likely run titles for 5 years at playable frame rates. If you plan on gaming at a higher resolution in the future that would obviously impact that estimation significantly. Here is a link to the card I have http://www.amazon.com/MSI-GTX-970-4GD5T-OC/dp/B00NN0GIA0/ref=sr_1_7?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1418916578&sr=1-7&keywords=gtx+970 The Asus Strix model gets really good reviews as well. The difference between most of the aftermarket cards is really splitting hairs. Your talking maybe a frame or two difference so focus on build quality and temperature and the MSI or Asus are both excellent options.

one thing i would like to clear before talking further.. there is no such thing as a "futureproof" gpu ... usualy a gpu lasts 2-3 years after which it gets slow and old

moving on..

the psu can handle the card... but i dont expect you to overclock with it

the card is 12 inches long ..but the case can only encase cards upto 11 inches...

i suggest you to buy a gtx970
http://www.amazon.com/MSI-GTX-970-4GD5T-OC/dp/B00NN0GIA0/ref=sr_1_60?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1418916435&sr=1-60&keywords=gtx+970

it is a bit faster, shorter, it needs a 550w psu only and runs cooler than the 290,.. it also costs the same

here are some benchmarks comparing the 290 vs 970

You're comparing a stock r9 290 to the 970, he is looking at the OC version from Sapphire. Comparing the Anandtech gaming benchmarks to what I've seen the OC'd 290 performs better. They're still close, and either card is going to give an excellent gaming experience.

I was researching the card that was linked above (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NN0GIA0/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER) to see if it was actually better, but now I'm kind of confused...

true, i did the same thing...

:)

but why buy a 290 , a 750w and ruin the case

while he can buy 970 , a 550w, keep his case and save some money in the process :)

Ok, after doing some research it seems like the MSI card that was recommended earlier (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NN0GIA0/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER) is better than the R9 290 Vapor-X, so I guess I'll be getting that instead. I have some new questions though.

1. So uh, that card is guaranteed to fit in my case right?

2. Will this power supply (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EON40CS/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A2I4D0WO1JEMBA) be enough to power all of the following parts? Also, does it have all of the necessary wires to power the card?

GPU: The card linked above
CPU: AMD FX-8320
MB: ASUS M5A97 R2.0
RAM: 2x 4GB DDR3 1333 MHz.
HD: A 1TB Western Digital HD
Typical CD drive.

3. Will my FX-8320 bottleneck the MSI card at all?

Note: This is my last set of questions. Whomever can answer them will get best answer. ;)
