So i can't find a thread talking about this problem anywhere so I figured I might as well ask myself. I started using my tv instead of my monitor to better accommodate my living space. Ever since then my frames are all over the place in games from overwatch and LoL to Anthem and Doom. I use radeon overlay to view my metrics and it'll read my fps to be around 60 - 70 but the frames I'm actually seeing are massively stuttering to where one second itll actually be and look like 60 and the next itll be displaying at 20 fps even though radeon says it's still 60 or 70. And in addition, the actual refresh rate of the tv (samsung 6 series smarttv) is 60 and even when I have vsync on the framerate will be at like 90 up to 130 in every game. I am fairly new to pc gaming too. This is the second system I've built.
Specs (everything is running stock cuz I'm a coward):
Cpu- R5 2600(stock cooler)
Gpu- XFX Vega 56
Mobo -B450 tomahawk
Ram-8gb Ballistix sport 3200
Storage -Hdd
Tv - Samsung 6 series 4ksmart tv. ( Displays 60 Hertz without that Trumotion garbage)

You may want to use that Trumotion garbage as it should make the gaming appear a bit smoother. There also should be a gaming option (Game mode) in the TV settings that should be enabled. I would try these with vsync enabled and off and see which one works better.

Also check memory usage, 8gb is a bit low nowadays.

Welcome to the forum!
Yeah its approaching 7gbs of use in anthem. Though, in overwatch and doom it's quite stable. That's what makes it garbage I cant use it in game mode which is what I'm using. And thanks! Though I feel like I'm among the few that use a tv for pc gaming haha.

When I had a 1080 ti I used for 4K for gaming every once in awhile but ended up dumping it as I had some issues similar to yours. Went 1080P ultra wide with Freesync and haven't looked back. Still have my 4K TV for my PS4 Pro but compared to my PC setup I see screen tearing all the time.

In game. I was using a free sync monitor before so I didnt have to worry about it. But I turn it on in game now. Though it seems to be running better with v sync off so far, in anthem at least.
