Severed GTX 260 fan cord!

In the process of being an idiot I accidentally ripped out 2 of the 4 gpu fan connectors.





ANY help would be appreciated, I haven't used my gaming rig in months and my replacement processor gets here next week!

I also forgot to mention that some plastic from the outside of the wire is also wedged into the socket.

it would most certainly be rma-rejected. get a replacement hsf. or if you know anybody with a dead/dying gtx260/280 hold him at gunpoint and ask him for his card.

well you could look for a 4 pin connector that fits in there and get creative with some tape or get handy with a soldering iron

Ironically it happened while I was working on a mod to lower my GPU temps, and I do have a friend with two 260s but I get the feeling that the whole gun thing would adversely affect our friendship.

Could you please give me some more specifics? I don't have any soldering equipment but I have plenty of spare connectors, cords, which I may be able to tweak somehow to make this work.

That's actually how this happened, I tried to pull the connector out (I still can't) and the pliers slipped off the side and tore through the right side wires.

no soldering equipment and only 3-pin case fans.

you gonna have to get that connector out or get a 3 to 4 pin connector and cut the wires on the cooler tape a connector on it and plug it into a motherboard fan header

Like people have suggested find a cheap fan with 4 pin connector.

This one is a vga cooler gtx 280 and is a bit pricey but it should do the trick if your at your last resort.

Is there any way that I can still use the fan on the gtx? Like somehow reconnecting the wires, but without soldering.

yes as i said extend the cable and connect it to a fan header on the motherboard

Fixed! Pulled out the connector, extended wires, plugged back into header, and voilà! Thanks to all who posted, especially obsidian.
