I recently acquired an SG500-52P switch which i want to replace the catalyst 3750 to connect to my Cisco catalyst 3850 core switch. I have been using CLC-SX-MM SFP to connect to the Cisco catalyst 3750 and the core switch ,but this seems not compatible with this new SG500 switch. What would be right SFP for speeds of 1Gpbs

Unfortunately this is a very common issue with cisco..and hp. Even though SFP are suppose to be a standard the vendors put software limitations in the hardware that reads some vendor/model from the SFP and only allows certain ones. So they pretty much force you to buy only their brand of sfp and even different one for different lines of their switches.

Generally there is a list of supported modules the switch will support in the data sheets. It tends to be very random what will work and what will not if you attempt to use modules even from other cisco switches.

And cisco wonders why they are losing market share in the lan switch market.
