Shaded vertical line on the screen

Hey guys, I just noticed this weird shaded line on my screen... I think it hasn't been there long, it really bothers me now that i know of it. It is mostly visible on gray background, on any pure color it is hardly seen or even not seen. Can anyone help me identify what is the problem and how to fix it?

Do this:
1. Find a webpage that you can see the problem on.
2. Take a picture of the problem with a camera (not printscreen) and post it online so we can see (imgur.com is a easy place to upload images)
3. Tell us the webpage you took a picture of so we can compare what you actually see (the camera picture) to what it should look like.

Anyways, I once had a similar issue with a monitor, where parts of the screen were gradually getting darker (not lines, but more like patches that were getting bigger over time). It was easiest to see on a grey background. It was a monitor defect; I had it exchanged under warranty.

Yes, that looks like the same problem I had. If you see the patch getting bigger over the next few months, then it probably is the same problem.

Anyways, I don't think you will start having other problems with the monitor other than this patch, so if you can live with it, then I guess don't worry.

BTW, may I ask what is the exact model and brand of monitor? I'm curious if there is some sort of connection with this defect... maybe a similar company or technology is having this same problem.

I had this problem on a HP ZR24W model. It is an H-IPS panel type. 24" 1920x1200

Thanks for helping man. I guess I will just accept it, until now I have been extremely satisfied with this monitor. It is a Philips Brilliance 240PW9 24" 1920x1200, made in 2009 I think.
Did they just say it is a defect or did they say what kind of defect it is?
