Got some interesting info on Shader model 3. Pretty much everything that can be done in 3.0 that ya seen in the Unreal 3 tech demo, can be done in 2.0 aswell, but with cards that support 3.0 its 2-4 times faster.
ATi's x800 is running the unreal 3 techdemo at around 20 fps on 2.0 shaders.
The 6800 is doing the same with 2.0 but when 3.0 are used in the FPS goes up to 40-60, this is from a good source![Smile :) :)](/data/assets/smilies/smile.gif)
Also tested the same thing with my engine. the frame rates go through the roof! its at least 2 times faster.
Also ultrashadow 2 is much more effecient then ultrashadow 1, I'm able to render 2 shadows per object from two different light sources at the same speed as 1 shadow with ultrashadow
