shadow maze in Uru's Big Tree Age

Okay, I give up .... I can't get out of the shadow well, and it's gone
beyond frustrating to megaboring. I have tried the path lighted, I've tried
it darkened, I've set it both ways and walked around the perimeter.avoiding
all lights. I've looked for the mysterious "red dot" and come to the
conclusion that the obvious door is a red herring.

Oh wait - I haven't tried setting the path to dark and going back to push
the blue button at the top - is that it?

Any help here would be great - I'm afraid I just don't get it. I stopped
playing about 6 months ago because of both work/vacation and plain
frustration (at this particular puzzle), but bringing a refreshed mind back
to this apparently hasn't helped...

BTW, there is a linking book in the prison area of the mushroom age that
can't be reached normally. I guess this is part of the Expansion Pack. Is
the "stone tablet" linking page accessible before all the ages are finished,
or have I just missed one? Or is it in a different age, perhaps? Hate to
leave the age unfinished...

Okay, I'll give a strong hint. The red dot in picture in the "singing room"
(as I call it with the vocal music) is the location of the start of the path
you should take. It is also the level exit. There is no actual marker or
indicator as such in the "shadow room". Press the blue buttons to give the
right light/shadow pattern as shown in the "singing room".

Walk carefully towards the false door by carefully following the path. You
will know when you have done it correctly.

Wait until you get to the next puzzle from there and look for a surface to
bang your head against.

Someone once said "Kadish is as much about what isn't there as what is
there". This puzzle and the next one sort of allude to that.

Remember, the clues in the Gallery are the stained glass pictures which have
many hidden facets, not just the obvious.

Good luck.

Believe me, I am already banging my head against the wall.

Okay, I have walked around the perimeter to where I think the "red dot"
would be, and followed the (shortened) path toward the door. I have done
this with the path darkened as well as with the path lighted. I have tried
as many variations of it as I could think of.

Nothing.

Do I have to step on every single segment of the path, perhaps, like
hopscotch? What if one foot lands outside the path - do I have to start
over, and if so, how do I "reset" it to start over? Or doesn't it matter?

Also, I've noticed that in the Clue, the red dot is the 8th segment to the
right of the stairs, in a circle with 32 segments. In the actual maze,
however, there are only 28 segments. Thought you'd like to know that...

That threw me for a while. Here's what to do...

1. Make sure the lights in the shadow room make a pattern like that in the
"singing room" picture.
2. Go to the location marked by the red spot. Keep to the edges, don't stray
onto the lighted paths.
3. Walk to the false door by *carefully* by following the darkened path. It
will not work if you stray onto the lighted path and you will have to start
over.
4. When you get to the door, the exit will reveal itself.
5. Breath sigh if relief.

Thank you, thank you! I realize that I absolutely never would have tried
that on my own, using logic and/or any apparent clues given in the course of
the game. For that reason, I am more than a little p****d at this puzzle -
the solution seems to be to ignore some of the clues and do something
apparently irrelevant and counterproductive. Bodes not well for the rest of
this Age...

Thanks again

All I can say is that it's nothing compared to what's ahead!!!!

You will need Aspirin and coffee. Lots of it.

.....or four.

If you look carefully in a certain place, there is a sort of really vauge
clue (of a type). This is probably one of the hardest puzzles of the game
and it took me an age to do.
