Shadow volume service not working

When I try to use system protection for system restore I receive message,There was an unexpected error in the property page,the volume shadow service is not working.
When I try to start volume service,in services. I get message,windows could not start the volume shadow service on local computer,cannot find the path specified error 3.Can anyone please help.

Looks like an error related to VSS trying to write data to a location that does not exist.
1) open regedit (Start -> Run... -> "regedit" )
2) navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\ContentIndex\Catalogs\System
3) check the value for "Location" -> make it "C:\System Volume Information"
4) restart the computer
