Shadows kill FPS in some games

I have R9 380 2GB
I5-6400
8GB RAM

Turning shadows above Lowest in a lot of intensive games kills my FPS.Picking Even Medium Shadow settings instead of Low and having everything else on highest(where VRAM limit allows) my FPS can go from average 80 to 40-50 average.

This can't be VRAM issue because with Low Preset and shadows Medium, I still get to these 40-50 shadows which is ridiculous.Rainbow Six siege and DOOM is doing this, but I suspect this happened in previous games because some performed worse than they should have and I wasnt aware of this.

What do you think about this?

I really do think it's a VRAM issue

That's just a fact, shadows add such a layer of graphical intensity that they can cause performance to take a dive even with high end hardware with plenty of VRAM which generally isn't the factor leading up to this performance hit.

Lack of VRAM usually causes stuttering instead of low fps. I just think this is you older mid range card showing its age in modern games.
