well i have run my 1.6 P4 for all games at moderate level for 4 years. When i mean moderate i mean playable , i am not so interested in graphics, as long as they look alright and the games is fast fun and playable.
in this context will the AMD 3000+ in a Epox Nforce 3 run for about 2 years at a steady reliable level and be able to play games at a stable relible level.

For the next year, clockspeeds will not change, so playability wont change either. The next year, we will start to see games designed for dual core. Still, not much difference. The year after that playability will start to lag, so you will really need a new graphics card.
That should keep you inthe game for another year, though without much eye candy. As long as you dont get too used to the pretty pictures, you may be fine for up to 4 years, with just a graphics card update.
