I recently RMA'd my Connect3D 9500 Pro to the manufacturer, after it had died during very slight overclocking(although the warranty was of course voided!).I expected that, if i was lucky, they would send me a new 9600 Pro card at best.Imagine my surprise when i awoke to a knock at the door this morning and greeted a UPS man bearing a new 9500 Pro for me!!
It has crappy Infineon 3.3 on it but hey!I'm not complaining!
Anyway, i bought a stock 60mm AMD HSF for modding my new card but since i was expecting a 9600 Pro, i wasn't prepared for having to deal with a shim.I have read the 9500 Pro ocing threads on Rage3d but they seem generally bios related so can you please help me here.I don't have the tools to file the hs down to get it to fit inside the shim so is it possible to just remove the shim and attach the hs or is that too dangerous? What other options do i have? What do people use to modify the bottom of their heatsinks to get them to fit inside the shim?
Many thanks in advance for any help
.
no matter how hard you try, you can't polish a turd. :]
Edited by ad_rach on 11/25/03 08:32 AM.
