Sharing a Printer: new 64-bit Win 7 pc and an old 32-bit XP pc

I just bought a Dell Inspiron 4010, 64 bit with Windows 7 Ultimate as the OS. The HP 3015 Laserjet is connected via a XP machine (old one). I have downloaded the drivers from the HP site. The printer shows on the network but am not able to print from the machine. Am at my wits end trying to figure out how to work this one out.

Did you share the printer on your Windows XP machine? Under settings, printers right click the printer and check the sharing option.

Yes I did. Tried the other method of Add a printer/local printer/new port/address of printer/next-next..now the printer shows on my screen, but it still does not print a page..

I have a new 64 bit Windows 7 laptop and the printer is attached to the local network with an old XP machine. I am not able to print from my new laptop. Your instructions to change the network boomeranged...all the machines were disconnected even when rebooted with the new workgroup name. If you could give me a way to print from my new laptop...that wud be great. thanks

You have to make it visible on the network.
