sharing files and internet connection windows 7

I want to share files and internet connection from my laptop to my pc
it is temporary so i am not willing to buy a router. On my laptop the internet connection is a USB 3g data card i want to share this connection with my desktop using Ethernet.
how can i connect my both the machines without any router i am having Ethernet crossover cable.
i had tried many ways which are coming after Google search but none of them are helping me out.
Can somebody please tell me with the steps so that i could be able to share my internet and files.
my pc is windows 7 64 bit
and my laptop is windows 7 32 bit

ok figured it out the cable i was using was a cat5e and what i had to use should be crossover cable.
