Sharing files via Windows 10 hotspot

Hi all

hope this counts as storage...

I have a wired desktop and am using a USB wifi adapter (built in wifi in the router is crap). This gives a much better signal but for some reason I no longer seem to be able to access all the windows shares. Oddly enough I can access the shares on the PC where the hot spot is hosted but not the main media server for example.

I have searched for the last hour or two and can find no real help on this so thought I would turn to the good people for Toms to see it anyone here had any ideas or a tutorial I can follow to get this working?

you've created a 2nd network. the hotspot is not functioning as a TRUE wireless access point (no matter what MS calls it, its not really a wireless access point), it's functioning strictly as an internet gateway. effectively your network storage and pc are on one network, the hotspot is a second network.

Ah - they lied to me. So can I bridge them in any way?

Well - that would be why I could not find instructions online.

At least the hot spot has convinced me the router is the weak link so I bought a wifi repeater ... see if that sorts things out
