Okay, first, you read the title right. I want to get more system RAM by sharing with the GPU, not the other way around.
Second, I have 2GB of DDR3 RAM for system RAM used by an ASROCK G41M-GS3 with a Pentium E6600. The GPU is a GT 530 2GB.
I know this is prehistoric hardware but when playing Portal 2 is fine... Well that is until it runs out of memory, and that "close programs to save memory" pop-up comes up and gets ignored until it is sick of being ignored and closes the hecking program with absolutely zero notice.

Tell me if it is possible. If it is not, I will just swap all the hardware to my second motherboard that uses DDR2, which I have 4GB of.

Thank you,
Idan

You can increase the amount of virtual memory from your hard drive , it’s far more readily available. unfortunately, you can’t use vram, at least not easily. You need to modify you OS or gaming program in order for it to access the vram. (like those mining algorithms)

Negative side for increase virtual mem, is that even tho your memory pool gets bigger, overall speed will go down, so game won’t crash but will be slower once your physical memory are maxed out as it will take some time to move inactive file to make room for physical memory space.
