Trying to share an HP LaserJet 1320 between two computers. Computers see each other fine. The printer is connected to the Win 7 32 bit machine. When I try to install the printer through the network on the Win 7 64-bit machine, it will not accept any of the drivers and I have tried ALL the HP options (Universal, 1320, 64 bit, 32 bit). Is it impossible to share with a mixed 32/64 bit environment?

Solution
download the drivers from hp for 64 bit on the windows 32bit computer, inside devices and printers right click on the printer and go into printer properties. On the top tabs click on sharing and at the bottom is additional drivers, click the button. in the new window check the x64 box and then point the installer to where you saved the 64bit drivers. this will install the drivers to the printer and when you go to add the printer to the windows 64 bit computer is will have them to install.
To my knowledge it shouldn't be impossible. I'm guessing you've tried just loading the default drivers? Generally Windows just picks up the drivers and installs it right away. I would also check and make sure there are no left over files in the registry causing a conflict with the new installs. Run CCleaner and flush out any left over files

I know others are having this same issue, so as a follow up, wanted to let you know I was unable to get it to work despite following all of the great suggestions. What I did instead was purchase the network model, 1320n on eBay for about $40. Then just hooked that direct to the network and I now have printing capabilities from every room.
