Odd that the resolution dropped when it got to 15.6". Given how the industry is going, I wouldn't be surprised if they also announced a 24" with 1920x1080 resolution!

guys, size is actually the main limitation. it's very difficult to make a 4K panel 24-30 inch in size at high yield. there is currently an extremely high rate of failure, which will drop as the technology matures.

Oh. That makes sense. But I think it's kind of funny how they continue to cram tinier pixels and more pixels into smaller screens. My eyes have their limitations, you know?

Yes, this is one of the many quirks since the new forum system came up. Nobody (except for the webmaster, maybe, who is impenetrable to any criticism) likes it.

This is good news but i would still like a 24 inch 3840x2160 display or 4096x2160 16:10
I think i will be holding out with my current display until an IGZO display of this size is released as it has all the benefits of TN for response time and then some, with better colour production and black levels than an IPS panel all while using less power.
or i might shell out on the 32 3840x2160 if i save up the pennies for it lol.

there are 3840x2160 4k UHD monitors they are just aimed at the professional market. Sony makes a 34" 3840x2160 4k monitor sold to professional video editors. High res nice size not too too huge and accurate colors. Only problem with professional monitors is u pay a professional price.
It definitely makes no sense that the 15.6" gets worse resolution. The larger the screen the bigger they can make the pixels which should make it easier.

4096x2160 is even wider then 3840x2160 so dunno how u got 16:10 from that it's actually 32:17 or 16:8.5
the smart thing to do if u already have a halfway semi decent lcd monitor is just wait for the oled monitors to come out. Or if you must get a nice monitor now go on craigslist and look for good monitors. I got a dell u3014 only 3 months since its manufacture date for 400 dollars off craigslist. The top left corner within a half inch from the top corner are 2 tiny dead black pixels. Dell wouldn't honor the warranty since i bought it off craigslist. But honestly the pixels are so tiny on this screen and the lil black dots are way in the corner and are only visible on light backgrounds. For an 1100 dollar savings ill put up with the little black dots. I got a 20-30-20 P-L-P monitor setup 2 20" 1600x1200 dell 2007fp in portrait and the 30 inch 2560x1600 in landscape in the center. I'm just praying when oled comes out we will have a similiar PLP option that lines up as perfect as these dells. The amount of productivity from this PLP setup is insane. Doing html and making websites is a lot easier with 3 screens of 1600 pixel vertical space.
