When i press my shift button it only works half of the time, how can i solve this?

for example this happens if i hold shift and W... WWWWwwwWWWWWWWWWwWWwwwwwWwWWWw
as u can see, there are capital letters and normal letters without releasing my shift button.
it's not my shift button that is just dead, since both my shift keys do the same thing and i never use the right shift so that can't be broken.

thanks in advance.

You can actually plug a standard USB keyboard into your laptop to try it. Short of replacing the built-in one, that may be your only solution.

The only other thing I could suggest is to go into the BIOS, find some setting that allows entry of upper- and lower-case letters and see if the shift key seems to work out there - that would rule out any weird stuff going on inside Windows.

When trying to diagnose hardware problems it's not wise to rule out the obvious. Both shift keys use the same circuit, so a fault would affect both of them.

Borrow another keyboard and try it; faulty hardware is by far the most likely possibility. If you try a substitute you will, at the worst, eliminate the possibility - at best you'll solve your problem.

well.. i can't really just grab another keyboard since it's a laptop.
so, any other suggestions? i'm not really planning to pay a bunch of cash for a new keyboard on my laptop hehe.

Well, if it is the keyboard what are you going to do? Chuck the laptop away becasue of a simple error?

If you can't be bothered to try an external keyboard, as suggested, take it to a computer shop and ask them to look at it for you.
