Anyone have any comments about this game? Is it a decent RPG/adventure?

It's great, if you liked Diablo that is. It sort of is like a cutified
Diablo 2, with Set items and everything, and a neat 2-4 player coop
Mode.

There is only one big flaw - you can't speed up the slooow
conversations, you can't abort the intro, you'll have to wait a lot when
something to read comes up.

I agree - if you ever wanted Diablo on your Gameboy, this is the game
to get!

Don't bash me too hard, but I've actually never played Diablo! :) But it
seems like the kind of game I'd like anyway.

I am a ... errm ... mature gamer, who has a preference for first-person
style things. I'm also a PC-gamer almost exclusively, with bits of GBA
play here and there. Therefore, a game has to really grab me.

I loved Baldur's Gate for the GBA, it was like a little version of
Neverwinter Nights.

I got Shining Soul II a week or so ago, and am really enjoying it ... it is
sharing gaming time with a replay of Gothic II on the PC right now, but soon
I'll put more time into it. I had a hard time starting a Mage, but I'm
doing much better with the Warrior, so I'll stick with that for now.

Even with what I've played, I'm satisfied that my money was well spent.

Interesting. I've played BG for the GC, so I'm wondering if the GBA version
isn't the same thing. I've heard both ways: that's it's a different game,
and also that it's the GBA version of the GC game, so it's the same. I don't
want to get it if it's the same, but otherwise I'd love it if it's like NWN.

I've played a bit of the GameCube version, and find it similar enough that
it is all familiar without being an exact copy. So far as I know it is a
port, so you'd probably want to skip it ...

.... it just reminded me on NWN, but with more direct combat, which worked
really well on the GBA, IMO.

Well, no bashing here :) Anyway, did you ever play Rogue, Moria,
Angband, nethack?

These are called "roguelike" games, named after "Rogue" which was the
first of this kind. Basically in these types of games you create a
character, fight monsters, level up, and gain items w/o much story.
Dialbo was like that and SSII is like that.

I can't find Shining Soul 2 at any of the local stores... Very
frustrating. Seems to be a common problem with Atlus games -- they
underestimate demand.

If I don't find it soon, I will have to order it online.

Never played those either, but I like that kind of thing. I'll have to get
this game!

Not sure. I just randomly found the review of it on GameSpot.com and it
sounded cool. I was surprised to find it at gamestop and ebgames, because it
does seem like the kind of game that would be hard to find, as it is for
you. Ordering online may be the way to go.

I hear a lot about this game being good for multiplayer, but it's still good
for single, right?

If you have a friend somewhere in Italy, Germany, the UK or France, you
could probably ask them to send it to you as well as it comes with a
language selector and English is of course one of the options. But I
would not gurantee on multiplayer compatiblity with US only carts.

I live in europe and I ordered mine from dvdboxoffice.com (Canada) so
with me it's quite the same thing in reverse. Sadly I don't know
somebody who would go buy it and play it in multiplayer with me so far.

The normal stores here have a large stock of the game though (germany).

It is. The fun part in playing this multiplayer is that while you're not
necessarily battling each other, you cooperate, and the competitive are
more defined by who trashes the most monsters, who finds the most
secrets, who finds the coolest items, and so forth.

It's fun making a deal with items and other players in those kinds of
games. You can give'em away for free and be generous, but you can of
course always demand a couple of healing potions or something else in
return.

Suppose you're not an archer and you find the Bow of the Moons +5 or
something, and there's an archer with you, why not give it to them, and
sell all the other things that didn't live up to your expectations?

Luckily it's really easy to determine what the qualities of the items
are.

Though, I've found several where I have no clue what to do with them at
all.

Anybody know what the baby oil is for?
