Shocking Shut Down

I have blue snow ball mic that is on a stand and I think ever time that shock the metal stand with static electricity it shut's down. It most happens when I am screen sharing with Skype and watching a a video through the web at the same time and I was wondering what is going on?

The mic or the PC shuts down?

Either way you are discharging electricity into the mic, likely down the USB, and into the PC. Its either causing a short, or the PC picks up the electric pulse and shuts down.
