Hello all,
I am thinking of buying a new Pentium 4 system mainly for games but the thing is that i am hesistating to pay around 600$ for a system that may become totaly obsolute in 2 or 3 months or become worth like 200 $ in the same period !!!!
The main point is that is it worth to buy a new P4 now despite all this news about the 64 bit processors.

Thank you

This question really belongs in the CPU forum or one of the others, but it's quicker to answer here, I guess.

No, you'll not need to worry about buying a 64-bit Pentium any time soon. There already IS a 64-bit Pentium. It's called the Itanium. It's been around for over a year, but no-one is buying them for desktop use. The price alone is more than you want to pay for a system.

Go out and buy a P4 that has Hyperthreading and a motherboard that supports it (be careful on that one-some claim to but lie-ask in the Motherboard and Chipset forum). Or, buy a complete system and let the manufacturer worry about it. I think you can buy a Dell for about that much.
