Hello,

I am looking to replace my cpu, ram, and motherboard. The specs for my desktop are posted below by links to newegg and amazon where I bought the parts (sorry, I do not know how to post my specs properly). This is strictly a gaming rig and I would like to spend around 300 $ on the processor and spend less than that on the motherboard. Not too worried about finding the ram, I think I can find that on my own. I feel a little lost and stressed as I try to shop, so any advice or help is much appreciate, this community is the best! Thanks in advance.

Okay, you really don't need a 300 dollar cpu an fx 8350 for 190 dollars will be more than enough. That is overkill for a gaming rig however. I recommend an fx 8350 on any good Asus mono. For gaming you don't need a 500 or even 200 dollar mobo. As long as it supports the RAM speeds you want and has the correct socket then it should work. However, I recommend only Asus or Asrock (maybe gigabyte if it has good reviews). You should be good to go. Side note, how is the 580?

Thank you all so much! That's a lot of great information. Since I am making these changes, I am now thinking of getting a second graphics card (and run 2 cards). Would that information change of any of the above recommendations?

Ultimately, I want to be running bf4 on ultra settings (maybe by the time I am done updating my rig, they will have sorted out most of the major bugs).

If I get an AMD/Intel motherboard, then do I need to get a processor of the same brand or can they be different brands? May be a stupid question, but I do not know much about the potential conflicts there, I usually stick with same brands. Also, I have had no complaints with my 580. I have lasted all games on ultra settings for 2 years.

Thanks again everyone. I have researched the core i5-4670k and the hero mobo (not that I doubt any of you, obviously). It looks great and I will be ordering today. I read about running 2 graphics card with SLI and it seems that my second card should (does not need to, but should) match my first card's brand, model, memory, and speed type. I am having a hard time finding a card that meets that criteria (finding that a lot are out of stock) and I am worried because my current card has been discontinued (it is linked at the top) for some time now. Are there any cards that you all would recommend? As always, I am immensely grateful for the help and you all are amazing!
