PC worked fine, plugged in HDMI cable while on which turned my other monitor off and made something smell bad, not sure what. If I turn it on it turns off in about half a second.

I have had issues with nothing being displayed on screen after testing some different monitors but it eventually resolved itself.

I bought it all used so I hope it's not the CPU or board that's fried as they are the only components that cost me over $175 AUD. Don't have any other hardware to test with but I assume I would see some physical damage in the GPU if it's the issue.

Haven't tried anything yet as I don't know what to do and it's something I want to tackle when fully awake. The only thing I can think to do is check the chokes and mosfets on the GPU and motherboard.

My specs are
5820k
X99 extreme4 (had to fix a bent pin on it if that matters)
GTX 770 2GB
Strider 850w gold
256GB 840 pro
160Gb WD blue
Milk crate

It turns off basically instantly so it's not a problem with the GPU not being fully plugged in or the cables being plugged in.

Opened GPU up, no physical damage. Guessing it's PSU as it doesn't turn in at all, the split second must have been stuff left in the caps.

That's a bigger problem than usual as I'm unable to take the power connections out of their socket (8 pins, 24 pin)

Time to replace the PSU, don't cheap out and get a tier 1 unit from seasonic (or EVGA G2 series)

They don't sell the G2 or P2 series in Australia on 650w PSUs according to pcpp and all of my local shops and Newegg Australia is a joke, they dont seem to stock anything so it's just like buying from the USA with higher priced shipping than Amazon. Will probably get the 750w G2 or antec edge 650w

They don't sell XFX units here either, I'm fine with the 750w G2 for $160 but it would be sweet if I could get the 650w P2 for $130 but there has to be about 40 for delivery.
