Short circuit problem?

I was listening to music on my phone. When my game loaded I went to switch the headphones to my laptop. But I put it in rather the usb port or hdmi port because I wasnt looking and the computer just shut off and I can't turn it back on. I'm wondering if that's a cause for short circuiting and if there is any fix
