Short Stroking a HDD that´s already being used!

Hey guys, so i wanted to ask if i can short stroke my HDD when im using it?
If i able to do that, can anyone explain me step by step or send me a link to short stroke a HDD thats already being used. Or how to short stroke a HDD thats already used (with data inside like OS, games, etc) on another computer? Please guys i really need help with this one!
 
Solution
you have to move all of the data that you want to access quickly to a partition at the start of the drive, the rest of the drive is traditionally left blank. You may not have enough logical control to manage that through a partition manager, so the simplest way is to wipe it and start again, hence you need a backup, but the improvements are very small by todays standards, spend $50 and put in an SSD for the OS and you'll see 100x the improvement in speed.


Thats seems a bit confusing for me. Can´t i get a better way xD?
