What are some compatible upgrades for my pc to make it run faster and at a higher in-game quality? Thanks

That's enough for both a CPU, Motherboard, RAM and GPU upgrade, all set for excellent gaming performance, do you know what Power Supply you have though? Just want to make sure you have the appropriate wattage and connectors for a new Graphics card.

The video card is very low end for that product generation. Depending on your budget, it wouldnt hurt to upgrade to something like the nVidia GTX 1050 or 1060, or maybe even one of the new AMD RX 570. Those are decent low-to-mid range cards that would certainly give you a overall performance boost.

Also, again depending on budget, maybe upgrade your RAM to 8 or 16GB. Right now, 4GB is almost bare minimum, and newer games may be bottle necked.

Either one of the above should help, both would be better, but again its all a matter of your budget.

i concur get the gtx 1050, upgrade to 8GB of ram, need a better processor as well the fx 4300 is low end

If he can find a compatible CPU upgrade for his motherboard, that would be great. But if not, we are pretty much recommending a new machine at this point. RAM and video card are at least relatively easy upgrades that can be swapped into the current system. His CPU isnt great, but should be able to feed a GTX 1050 or similar class card just fine.

i agree, get everything else. if you have the budget i checked on newegg seems his board supports the full fx line.

get the ram just 1 stick of 8gb, the graphics card 1050

An FX 6350 is definitely not worth $100... A $60 Pentium G4560 outperforms it and on a socket that isn't dead/outdated. Only problem is OP needs a new Motherboard and RAM but overall you can get a G4560 + B250 + 8GB DDR4 to cover 2 bases and have the future upgrade path open for under $200.

Until we get a set budget, this is a nice and cheap upgrade solution:

Not justifying this with an answer until you fully read my post and consider opening the link i provided...

i dont need to read the link it is to pcpartpicker. i dont think it's good for him to try and build his computer for a first time with LGA. very easy to bend the pins, dropping a grphics card in and a new stick of ram is much simpler. even the processor not the best but it's short term and he doesn't have to build another computer, he would have to get someobody else to do that so the cost is new motherboard plus somebody to build it for him.

i normally recommend base on perceived skill of who is asking the question.

saving 40$ can turn into a headache for him building a computer

"What are some compatible upgrades for my pc" is what i'm going by not build a whole nother computer lol

and if he breaks it building it more money.

While I dont disagree with your selections, but at this point you are basically advising almost a whole new rig. Im not sure that was the goal of the OP. A new CPU from a different brand will require a different motherboard, which will also mean that the user has to get a new copy of Windows 10 (the license is tied to the mainboard). Sure, knowing what budget we are facing can help narrow it down, but lets not over do it, or over think it.

Simple upgrades for "Short Term Gaming" are going to be RAM and Video card first. And you can upgrade the CPU and motherboard later if needed.

^ This. Windows 10 license is paired with your Microsoft account. I've upgrade my rig from an older socket and done the same already on the same license.

For the RAM, making him spend more on DDR3 would be a poor move if a CPU upgrade is on the table for the future since he would then again need DDR4. What i'm trying to point out here is that an FX 6350 is not worth $100 no matter what way you look at it. It is weak to today's standards and he is leaving his upgrade path closed off not doing a lot for his aim, in fact an FX 4300 > 6350 will do very little at all paired with his current GPU. A complete waste of money.

Now a G4560 while only slightly a stronger CPU, comes on a fresh socket with support for the newest technologies, an excellent potential upgrade path (Kaby Lake i5/i7 or even Coffee Lake will be available after a BIOS update). At the same time, he can buy 8GB DDR4 as i listed above and provide himself with a new updated socket, stronger CPU and more RAM (and faster..) for $80 more than buying a outdated CPU with other real benefit but a minor performance jump.

spending money on upgrading the am3+ platform would be like operating on a decrepit dog that can no longer get out of it's basked to walk... just because the dog has given you years of wonderful memories and companionship! you're just prolonging the agony and doing neither of you any favours! longing for the days when you would see your pet sprint through the long grass and return the ball faster than you could throw it. replacing your current pet with one of it's siblings of the same age just because it can still walk is going to put you through the agony twice in a short space of time .
