Shorted out usb port on laptop

I shorted out my laptop, I was trying to plug my headphones in the dark and it went into the usb port. When I went to turn it on, the fan starts the power light turns on for about 5 seconds, but the screen doesn't turn on. Then it shuts off and tries to start again, over and over. U my lap top is a Acer aspire e15 e5-511-c0pc. I'm not to familiar with laptops, I have once taken it apart to replace the hard drive. Can I take out the memory and hopefully fix it?

try a power drain and cmos reset.if issue still persist then the issue might be more serious

Hi, you burned a component on the 5 volts rail when you inserted the headphone plug into the USB port. Maybe you just have an inductor that is defective, or more serious the control chip for the 5 volts. But both can be easily repaired.
