Shotcuts to Desktop

I am having a problem of not being able to send a website to the Desktop as a
"Shortcut". I have icons on the Desktop from the past, and these are working
correctly. I am able to send them to a folder in "Favorites", and they are
active from there, but it is such a time-taking task trying to hunt them up
from there.
Can anyone offer any suggestions or workarounds that I can take in order to
change this ??

Right-click on any text on the web page and select Create Shortcut.

The trick is to right-click on text. It won't work if you do it on a
hyperlink or a graphic. On some web pages it can be difficult to find
something that's just text. In that case you have to right click on various
spots until you get the 'Create Shorcut' menu selection.

If nothing else works, copy the page's address from the Address Bar and then
right click on your desktop, selecting the New > Shortcut selection. Paste
the address into the 'Type the location of the item:' line.

Ted....
Thanks for your prompt reply. Yes, I have well-learned how to move around
on a page to zero in on a site that doesn't bring up a screenful vertical
list, including "save to pictures", etc. I know in the past (pre SP-2), when
a choice for sending to a shortcut, I was getting an audible verification,
but that is not the case now.
I tried your other method, and it is working ... so I'm just going to go
that way for what I need.
Again, thank you so much for your prompt, helpful response. I think I hit
the selcection for "helpful reply".
Thanks
