Hi all.
I currently have an FX-8350 CPU on a Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 motherboard running an MSI GTX 1080.
I have been given a working i5-2500K LGA 1155 CPU and wondered whether I would see an improvement in gaming performance if I swapped my FX-8350 for the i5 on a motherboard with PCIE 3.0 support instead of PCIE 2.0. What are your thoughts?
I can get an Asus P8Z68-V/GEN3 motherboard for £85 from a mate which has PCIE 3.0 support while allowing me to continue to use my DDR3 memory so it will be a fairly cheap swap\upgrade.
Moving to a new i5 or i7 is out of the question because it will incur the added expense of DDR4 memory plus a new CPU and motherboard.
