Should bios updates be done in order?

Hi folks,

was just wondering if bios updates should be done in order....one by one?

I got the Asus Z170i this week that had the 0806 bios dated Feb 2016, and then flashed straight to the latest one 1809 dated Aug 2016.....so I effectively skipped 3 updates in-between.

Is it ok to do this or should i have done 4 updates one after the other?

only need the latest

it not really doing update, it replace the bios from the download to the bios on your motherboard

Generally, BIOS updates are complete standalone updates which contain cumulative patches and fixes. So - jumping from one BIOS to a newer BIOS skipping intermediate releases is just fine.

Read the notes on the download page. Look at ALL the previous versions. Version 50 may say you have to have a minimum version 40 to upgrade. Version 40 has a dependency on version 30. If you are on version 25 you would have to update to 30, then 40 to get to 50. Many AMD motherboards also have a chipset driver minimum version. So you have to update your chipset driver ALSO.
