Long story short, I am re-building a computer after the previous motherboard and power supply I was using were diagnosed as being bad. I am going to use the Intel SSD and the graphics card from my old computer (both listed in the parts list) but I wanted to test things before moving them over.
The potential issue is when I plug in and attempt to turn on this computer without a graphics card or boot drive, and not connected to a monitor, the motherboard lights turn on, but none of the fans spin. I have wiggled and pushed in all the power connectors and cables. The CPU is installed correctly as far as I can tell. Should the fans be spinning after I press the power button or does the CPU need some kind of boot drive to talk to for that to happen? Is the non-boot drive M.2 SSD potentially stopping the fans from turning on in this test? Should I assume everything is fine and move over the boot SSD and graphics card?
