hi

i am thinking about painting my MSI GTX 970 and i wanted to know if that is a good idea and if you know any videos or guides on taking apart the msi 970 and also what paint i should use?

Im in the UK so it would be great if the paint was available in the UK.

thanks :)

It's pretty straight forward to remove the heatsink. Here is a video of a similar card:

You are going to want heat resistant paint, as even the heatsink can get very hot (close to 80-90C sometimes). Obviously only paint the heatsink not the PCB (printed circuit board), tape off the fan so you don't get any paint inside, and don't get any paint on the bottom where the heatsink touches the chips. Retain the heat pads for placement later. Just take care to properly tape off any sensitive areas.

really? i have seen many videos of people painting there plastic bit on there GPU and i just wondered how to take mine apart to do it

that isn't similar to mine at all because i have the MSI twin frozer 5 not the stock cooler, and i wasn't going to paint the heat sink, just the plastic bit, but thanks for the reply :)
