I have a Acer Predator 17x with the i7 and 1080 in it. It was running hot so I cleaned the fans and the gpu is running fine now. But the cpu still gets hot. It has 2 separate heat pipes. Should I reapply thermal paste on the cpu? It only gets hot on warzone. Getting to 100c when it spikes but it never stays at 100c the whole time.

Solution
it won't hurt to replace it. might help the temps, but then it may not.

the best thing i have found for laptops is one of those cooling pads with multiple fans. this not only helps wick away heat from the case but also ensures you have it sitting on the best possible surface for air flow. it's just hard to get good flow inside the case, so you have to do hat you can from the outside
