Should i be able to achieve 144 fps

Hey guys,
Recently i upgraded to 144hz monitor and i been noticing i barely go over 70 fps in game (ultra-high) settings. I was sure 1070 gtx Gaming Z should be able to achieve that?

My PC specs are

i5 4690k oc'ed to 4.4
16 gb ddr3 1866
1070 gtx gaming z 8gb

is my cpu being a bottlekneck?

Games that i have tested so far are, watch dogs 2, AC syndicate, BF1 etc. none of them seem to stay above 65 unless im looking at a sky or wall

It would largely depend on your graphics settings. If you want 144fps, you'll have to turn down some settings. Which ones will vary per game but typical ones would include anisotropic filtering, volumetrics, reflections, anti-aliasing.

^ yup, mainly ur MSAA settings and anisotropic filtering. keep it at x4 or x2.

turn off vsync.....get 100's of frames this way. For me DOOM = 200 fps with vsync off, all other stetting very high

unfortunately that will introduce tearing which i really cant stand

i am still confused as to why my Pc not able to achive 144 fps easily. i read most of the posts stating 1070 GTX should easily achive 144 fps on MOST games. however with me i can hardly hit 80.

I shouldnt need to lower my settings alot

r u by anyway running doom in vulkan api? if u so try changing back to dx11/dx12

No i am on dx11. tried dx12 as well.

running the graphic card on maximum performace mode from Nvidia CP has helped. Just so in future any one is looking for an answer.
