A disk health utility I got says "Caution." My reallocated sectors are at 85, and pending sectors 89, all other stats are within the default threshold. I've dealt with a failing HDD before, and it sucked. I was probably lucky to be able to recover most of my data fairly easily. I don't have much money since I'm 16 and don't yet have a job, so I'm not sure where the line is between risk and cost, which I'm hoping to find out here.

Alright. I'm not so concerned with saving my data as I am with avoiding the annoying setup and whatnot that comes with a fresh install.
A full disk backup will ease that pain.
Click click...all restored exactly as it was.

Of course, you need to be proactive, and create these backups before the drive fails. Or before it shows signs of failing.

Drive die.
All of them. Some sooner than later.
Yours is in the sooner column.
