Should i build a new pc or upgrade my current..

I m having a core 2 quad q6600 2.4 GHz processor with IPIBL-LA motherboard and 4 GB ram .i was thinking to buy a brand new GTX 1050 2 GB and upgrade the ram to 8 GB and the CPU to core 2 quad q9650 3.0 ghz but as i came to know after a little searching on internet about the bottleneck problem i thought that i should build a new PC with core i 5 2400 and a master cooler casing which also include asus p8h61 mle motherboard, a Xigamatek NRP500 watts 80+ Bronze power supply and 8 GB DDR3 Ram with a gtx 750 ti GPU, I m confused right now so i thought i should ask the community that should i upgrade my current PC or build that new PC which i had given the spec and also i m building this for gaming so which one would give me good performance in gaming.

if you are upgrading or building a new system why are you using q9650 and those old parts? You already have them on hand?
otherwise you should buy new modern parts when you build a new system. like those cpu and mobo that support ddr4 at least.

That system is pushing ten years old. Purchasing any new, state of the art hardware for upgrading your existing system would be a waste in performance, as well as your hard earned money. Invest it in a new computer so your money is well spent.

My apologies, let me clarify for you. Any money spent for the sole purpose of upgrading his existing ten year old system, would be money well wasted.

you should stay away with 2xxx series of intel or fx series of amd.

amd ryzen or intel 6xxx and 7xxx cpu is where you should spend your money

those cpus and ddr4 memory is the way to go. If you would just give us your location (country) and your budget-how much you are willing to spend (currency e.g. us dollars, canadian dollars, indian rupee, uk pounds, euros, etc). we will be able to give you suggestions.

Even a Pentium G4560 would be superior to any core 2 quad, and games pretty close to an old i5 2500.

I just don't get his obsession with q9650 and i5 2500k, unless of course he already has them on hand and don't want to spend any money on cpu/ram/mobo.

he still needs to buy a new reputable power supply from seasonic evga or corsair though.

btw 1600x900 is unheard of in the modern monitor or tvs.

They're saying you should buy new stuff rather than upgrading at this point. But an i5-2400 isn't new stuff, it's just slightly less old stuff. If you do a serious overhaul of your rig, you should get it into 2017 or 2016 at least, not 2011 and then be right back where you started soon, on a decade-old platform.

I'm afraid with only 250 (of course I don't know the prices of Pakistani markets), you won't be able to build your dream machine.
save for more or buy only a graphic card. with your current budget, forget about cpu/ram/mobo.

no i already have a gtx 780ti with core i 5 6600k with 16 gb ram bt i m think of selling that pc and want to buy a apple mac with that but i also have extra 250 $ which i saved for an alternative pc in which i can play the games

Um... Keep that PC. The GTX 780 Ti should still be really good for gaming.

You don't need to make a good gaming PC for $250 though. The GTX 780 Ti and the i5-6600K is still good for gaming. Also, you can just run Hackintosh in case you need the Mac.
