Approximate Purchase Date: Jan/Feb 2015
Budget Range: $800-$1200 (even less than 800 if there is a viable solution).
System Usage: Software Engineering / Hardware Engineering!!! Multi-tasking/Gaming, Streaming on TwitchTV possibly.
Games I Play:
World of Warcraft.
Counter-Strike.
League of Legends.
Battlefield 4.
Steam Games... Mostly anything MMO. Not to fond of single player games.
I'm a software engineering student, and I'll be graduating summer 2015 or Fall 2015. I already have an internship that pays well lined up for next semester and a full-time job for when I graduate. Once I graduate I will be purchasing a new PC on steroids (LGA 2011) Broadwell-E/Skylake Etc. and most likely a new laptop as well.
So here's the question:
Do I build a new PC to hold out until about Q2 2016? Do I upgrade my parts? Or should I just leave me PC alone.
Things I MUST REPLACE in Order of Importance:
Case: non of my front USB ports are working... so annoying.
PSU: It's going to explode at any minute.
CPU: It's Zambezi and it sucks.
RAM: Need to upgrade to 16gb, Running Virtual Desktop Environments to code in Objective-C because Apple... well only likes Apple users. Can't use Vengeance sticks because of Heatsink Blockage!
GPU: still get's the job done, but only 1gb of ram!
If I do build a new computer I won't be reusing many of these parts, maybe the Mobo & 1TB hard drive for storage.
If there is a viable AMD solution, I might go that route and just give the old CPU & RAM to my father.
Current System:
CPU: AMD FX-6100 @ 4.2GHZ
MB: ASRock Extreme3 990FX
RAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR3 8gb @ 1600mhz
HD1: Samsung Evo 120gb
HD2: WD Blue 1TB 7200rpm
GPU: HD7850 1gb
PSU: Rosewill 700w (thing is about to blow any minute).
Case: Antec 900 from 2007 -_-
Cooler: Hyper 212
Monitors: Asus VN-247 1080p & an old Asus 1680x1050 (plan on replacing it to same VN-247).
Proposed System:
CPU: i7 4790k or i5 4690k
MB: ASRock Extreme9 Z97
RAM: GSkill Sniper Series 16gb 1866mhz
HD1: Samsung Evo 250gb/500gb
HD2: WD Black 1TB
GPU: GTX 970 or GTX 980 (maybe a R9 290x or R9 290)
PSU: EVGA SuperNova 1000w G2
Case: Fractal Design R4
Cooler: Hyper 212 Evo.
I'm open to ALL and ANY suggestions thanks!
