Should i buy a 144hz monitor? (aka: is my computer powerful enough to need one)

So im building a computer and seriously don't want any graphics tearing and heard that 144hz monitor can negate alot of graphic tearing. but i also dont want to spend extra money that i dont need if my computer will only be handleing most graphic heavy games at 50-80FPS

Personally, and this is just me, I don't think 144Hz monitor is necessary. Tearing typically happens when your FPS exceeds your monitor's refresh rate, and if you're playing below 144 FPS, then a 144Hz monitor should mitigate tearing.

However, games also don't really need to be played at higher than 60 FPS, since the human eye can't really distinguish anything beyond that, so with that being said, if you enable VSync on a 60Hz monitor, you should, theoretically, not encounter tearing issues either.
